Questions & Answers

What is the native resolution of the Lilliput Q28-8K display panel?

The panel has a native resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, which corresponds to 4K UHD. The monitor processes 8K signals via 12G-SDI Quad-Link input and displays them on this 28 inch IPS panel.

How does the monitor handle 8K signals if the panel is only 4K?

The Q28-8K accepts 8K video signals through its 12G-SDI Quad-Link interface and processes them internally. The signal is then displayed on the 4K IPS panel, allowing operators to monitor 8K production content with accurate detail and color fidelity.

Which SDI interface standard does the monitor use for 8K input?

The monitor uses 12G-SDI in a Quad-Link configuration to receive and process 8K video signals. This is the current broadcast standard for high-bandwidth signal transport in professional production environments.

Does the Lilliput Q28-8K support HDR monitoring?

Yes, the monitor supports HDR playback including ST.2084 with nit levels of 300, 1000, and 10000, as well as HLG. This makes it suitable for HDR grading and monitoring workflows that follow current broadcast and cinema standards.

Can 3D LUTs be loaded onto the monitor, and how?

Yes, 3D LUT files in the .cube format can be imported directly via a USB connection. This allows colorists and operators to apply custom look-up tables for accurate color space monitoring or on-set color management.

What color temperatures are available for calibration purposes?

Five selectable color temperatures are available: 3200K, 5500K, 6500K, 7500K, and 9300K. This range covers common production and broadcast standards, including daylight and tungsten lighting conditions.

Which video interfaces are available besides SDI?

In addition to 12G-SDI Quad-Link, the monitor provides an HDMI 2.0 input and a 12G-SFP+ slot, with the SFP+ module being available as an optional add-on. These interfaces allow integration into a variety of professional signal chains.

How can the monitor be controlled remotely in a broadcast facility?

Remote control is possible via Ethernet for network-based integration as well as via RS422 for serial device control. Software control is also supported, enabling the monitor to be managed within automated or centralized production systems.

What audio analysis tools does the monitor offer?

The monitor includes an audio analysis function based on the Lissajous diagram, which provides a stereo visualization of the audio signal. Integrated stereo speakers are also built in for basic audio monitoring directly from the unit.

Is the monitor suitable for mobile or field production use?

Yes, a V-Mount battery plate is integrated, allowing the monitor to be powered by standard V-Mount batteries without additional adapters. This makes it practical for field production, outside broadcasts, and mobile studio setups.

What mounting options are supported?

The monitor supports VESA mounting patterns of both 75 × 75 mm and 100 × 100 mm. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of standard monitor arms, rack frames, and studio mounting solutions.

What is the brightness and contrast ratio of the display?

The IPS panel offers a brightness of 350 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. These values are appropriate for controlled broadcast and grading environments where consistent and repeatable image evaluation is required.

Which color space standard does the monitor support?

The monitor supports the Rec.709 color space, which is the standard for high-definition broadcast television. Combined with HDR modes and 3D LUT support, it covers the core requirements of modern broadcast and video production workflows.

Are there customizable controls on the monitor itself?

Yes, four freely assignable function buttons are available directly on the unit. These can be configured to provide quick access to frequently used monitoring functions, reducing menu navigation during time-sensitive production work.
