DVTEC EngRig Pro-Support – Spring-loaded camera support
Body support for ENG cameras with hip belt relief
article number: 8646 | manufacturer number: 2001 | EAN/UPC: 758263167830
The DVTEC EngRig Support is a professional spring-loaded body support designed for mounting on a 15mm rod system. It transfers the camera weight from your shoulders and arms to the hip, while simultaneously stabilizing the image during walking shots.
- Spring support arm – The core component that lifts and stabilizes the camera via an adjustable spring mechanism.
- Rod joint unit – Connector for mounting on any standard 15mm rod system.
- Hip belt with holster – Transfers the camera weight to the hip and securely holds the spring arm.
- Carry bag – Protects the entire kit during transport to your shooting location.
The standard configuration supports cameras up to approx. 4.5 kg (10 lbs). On request, we install stronger springs for camera weights up to 12 kg (26 lbs). Please specify the approximate total weight of your camera including lens when placing your order – we will adjust the springs accordingly before shipping.
Hours of handheld shooting with heavy shoulder-mount cameras quickly leads to back and shoulder strain. The EngRig Support redirects the weight through the hip belt, allowing camera operators to work fatigue-free even after extended periods. The relief is especially noticeable with front-heavy cameras equipped with large lenses.
The EngRig Support fits all common full-size ENG shoulder-mount cameras with a 15mm rod system – including models from Sony, Panasonic and JVC. The active spring mechanism lifts and stabilizes the camera including the lens, which makes a significant difference particularly with heavy broadcast lenses.
Two independently adjustable springs allow you to fine-tune the lift point for different camera weights. The camera can be raised or lowered to find the optimal working position. A locking screw lets you set the horizontal movement anywhere between free panning and fully locked.
For static shots, the spring support can be fully locked to hold the camera in a fixed position. For dynamic walking shots, it absorbs vertical jolts and delivers smoother footage – comparable to a basic Steadicam effect without any additional equipment.
The integrated click system connects the spring arm and joint unit in seconds without any tools. This makes the EngRig Support ready to use quickly – even in fast-paced ENG and news production environments.
The EngRig Support is designed for camera operators and production teams who regularly work with ENG shoulder-mount cameras weighing 5 kg (11 lbs) or more – whether in news production, documentaries, live events or corporate films. The combination of weight relief, image stabilization and fast setup makes it a practical companion for demanding shooting days.
