Hoodman HCRN HoodCrane for HoodLoupe 3.0
Adjustable Hot Shoe Mount with Spring-Loaded Pivot
article number: 9522 | manufacturer number: HCRN | EAN/UPC: 017932333069
The Hoodman HCRN HoodCrane is a universal mounting bracket for the Hoodman HoodLoupe 3.0 display loupe. It enables secure, adhesive-free attachment of the HoodLoupe to DSLR and mirrorless cameras with a standard hot shoe.
By mounting on the hot shoe, the HoodLoupe is reliably positioned on the camera without the need for adhesive frames or permanent attachments to the camera display. This is particularly practical for cameras with a flip-out display or when switching between different camera bodies.
The HoodCrane can be adjusted in height, laterally, and in depth. This allows the position of the HoodLoupe to be precisely matched to the respective camera shape and display position.
The individual elements are secured with clamping screws, keeping the display loupe firmly in place. When filming or shooting, both hands remain free for camera operation, focus, zoom, and other settings.
The Hoodman HoodCrane features a spring-assisted, click-locking up-and-down movement. This allows the HoodLoupe to be quickly folded away from the display and returned to the working position.
This function makes it easy to switch between viewfinder use and direct display operation without having to dismount the bracket each time.
In addition, the HoodCrane features an accessory shoe. A small spirit level or other accessories with a clip-on foot can be mounted there, for example.
The HoodCrane is thus a flexible solution for users who want to use their HoodLoupe 3.0 securely and conveniently on a variety of cameras.

Questions & Answers▲
What is the Hoodman HCRN HoodCrane designed for?
The HoodCrane is a universal mounting bracket specifically designed to attach the Hoodman HoodLoupe 3.0 display loupe to cameras with a standard hot shoe, without the need for adhesive frames or permanent fixings.
Which cameras are compatible with the HoodCrane?
The HoodCrane is compatible with DSLR and mirrorless cameras that feature a standard hot shoe. It is designed to work across a variety of camera bodies without modification.
Does the HoodCrane require any adhesive or permanent attachment to the camera?
No. The bracket mounts directly to the camera's hot shoe, so no adhesive pads or permanent attachments to the camera body or display are needed. This keeps the camera fully protected and allows easy switching between different camera bodies.
In which directions can the HoodCrane be adjusted?
The bracket can be adjusted in three directions: height, lateral position, and depth. This allows the HoodLoupe 3.0 to be precisely aligned with the display of any supported camera shape.
How is the adjusted position kept in place during use?
Each adjustable element is secured with clamping screws. Once tightened, the bracket holds the display loupe firmly in the chosen position during filming or photography without shifting.
What does the spring-assisted folding joint do?
The spring-loaded pivot allows the HoodLoupe to be quickly folded away from the display and snapped back into the working position with a click. This makes it easy to alternate between using the optical viewfinder and working directly with the camera display without dismounting the bracket.
Is the HoodCrane suitable for cameras with a flip-out or articulating display?
Yes. Because the bracket attaches to the hot shoe rather than the display itself, it is particularly practical for cameras with flip-out or articulating displays, where adhesive mounting solutions would be inconvenient or impractical.
Does the HoodCrane have an accessory shoe of its own?
Yes, the HoodCrane includes an additional accessory shoe. This can be used to mount accessories such as a small spirit level or other items with a standard clip-on foot.
Can both hands remain free for camera operation when the HoodLoupe is mounted?
Yes. Once attached via the HoodCrane, the HoodLoupe 3.0 stays securely in position, leaving both hands free for camera controls such as focus, zoom, and other settings.
Is the HoodCrane compatible with HoodLoupe models other than the 3.0?
The HoodCrane is specifically designed for use with the Hoodman HoodLoupe 3.0. Compatibility with other HoodLoupe versions is not confirmed and should be verified before purchase.
Does using the HoodCrane occupy the hot shoe so that no other hot shoe accessories can be used simultaneously?
The HoodCrane mounts to the camera's hot shoe, which means that hot shoe slot is occupied by the bracket. However, the built-in accessory shoe on the HoodCrane itself provides an alternative mounting point for compatible accessories.
