What are the minimum monitor dimensions required for a proper fit?
The monitor bezel should measure at least approximately 130 x 210 mm on the side that faces the hood for secure attachment.
How is the sun hood attached to the monitor?
Attachment is achieved using hook-and-loop tabs located on all four sides — top, bottom, left, and right — each measuring approximately 70 mm in length.
What is the size of the viewing aperture?
The viewing aperture measures 305 x 155 mm, allowing a clear and unobstructed view of the monitor screen.
How deep is the sun hood?
The total depth of the hood is 345 mm, providing effective shading even in bright ambient light and direct sunlight.
Is the Hoodman H-789 suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, it is specifically designed for outdoor environments. An integrated drip edge of approximately 20 mm provides additional protection against rain and moisture running onto the screen.
What type of monitors is this sun hood intended for?
The hood is designed for TFT monitors in the 7- to 9-inch size range and is not intended for other display technologies or significantly larger or smaller screens.
Does the drip edge protect the screen from rain?
The integrated drip edge of approximately 20 mm helps deflect water away from the screen surface, offering a basic level of protection during light rain or damp conditions.
Can the sun hood be removed and reattached easily?
Yes, the hook-and-loop attachment system allows for straightforward removal and reattachment without tools.
Are there hook-and-loop tabs on all four sides or only on some?
Hook-and-loop tabs are present on all four sides — top, bottom, left, and right — ensuring a stable and even fit around the monitor bezel.
Does the depth of 345 mm affect the viewing angle noticeably?
A depth of 345 mm is sufficient to shade the screen effectively while still allowing a comfortable viewing angle during normal use.
Is the H-789 compatible with monitors mounted on a stand or arm?
Compatibility depends on whether the monitor bezel surface is accessible for the Velcro tabs. As long as the front bezel is unobstructed and meets the minimum dimensions, mounting type should not affect attachment.
