EZFX Undersling Camera Frame for Low-Level Crane Shots

The EZFX Undersling Camera Frame was developed for low-level shots with camera cranes and jib systems. It enables camera moves at minimal height as well as top-down shots into hard-to-reach areas, for example through vehicle sunroofs or into open structures.

The sturdy frame is designed for large broadcast cameras. The height can be adjusted via four screw connections to accommodate cameras with a body height of approximately 310 to 498 mm.

1/4-inch and 3/8-inch threads are available for camera mounting. All thread points are reinforced with steel inserts.

The frame can be mounted directly on a pan/tilt head or offset by 90 degrees using a suitable dutch/tilt plate.

Questions & Answers

What is the EZFX Undersling Camera Cage designed for?

It is designed for low-level crane shots and top-down camera moves using jib systems. It allows camera operators to film at minimal height above the ground or shoot downward into hard-to-reach areas such as vehicle interiors through sunroofs or into open structures.

What is the adjustable inner height range of the cage?

The inner height is adjustable between 310 mm and 498 mm. This adjustment is made via four screw connections on the frame, allowing it to accommodate a wide range of broadcast camera body sizes.

Which camera thread sizes are available for mounting?

Both 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch threads are available for camera mounting. All thread points are reinforced with steel inserts to ensure a secure and durable connection even under repeated use.

What material is the frame made from?

The frame is constructed from high-quality, durable aluminium. The top and bottom plates are 10 mm thick anodised aluminium, while the side U-profiles are aluminium with a black powder-coat finish.

How much does the cage weigh?

The cage weighs 2,480 grams. This relatively lightweight construction is achieved through the use of aluminium, while still providing the rigidity required to carry large broadcast cameras safely.

What are the outer dimensions of the cage?

The outer width is 270 mm, the depth is 76.8 mm, and the outer height ranges from 350 mm to 535 mm depending on the adjustment setting. The inner width available for the camera body is 168 mm.

How is the cage mounted to a jib or crane system?

The cage can be mounted directly onto a pan/tilt head. Alternatively, it can be offset by 90 degrees using a suitable dutch plate or tilt plate, which provides additional flexibility for the shooting angle.

Is the cage suitable for large broadcast cameras?

Yes, the cage is specifically designed to accommodate large broadcast cameras. The adjustable inner height of up to 498 mm and an inner width of 168 mm make it compatible with professional broadcast camera bodies commonly used in film and television production.

Can the cage be used for overhead or top-down shots?

Yes, when combined with a compatible dutch or tilt plate, the cage orientation can be shifted by 90 degrees, enabling top-down perspectives. This makes it well suited for shooting directly downward into vehicles, containers, or similar enclosed areas.

Are the thread inserts durable enough for professional use?

Yes, all thread points are reinforced with steel inserts. This ensures that the mounting threads remain stable and resistant to wear over time, even when cameras are frequently attached and removed during professional productions.

What finish do the side profiles have?

The side U-profiles are made from aluminium with a black powder-coat finish. This surface treatment provides additional protection against scratches and corrosion while giving the cage a professional appearance on set.

How is the height adjustment mechanism operated?

The height is adjusted via four screw connections positioned on the frame. Loosening and repositioning these screws allows the operator to change the inner height to match the specific camera body being used, within the range of 310 to 498 mm.
