AVMatrix VS0601U 6-Channel Full-HD Streaming Switcher for Live Productions

The AVMatrix VS0601U is a compact 6-channel streaming switcher for live productions, events, training sessions, conferences, gaming streams, and mobile broadcast setups.

The video mixer processes Full-HD signals up to 1920 x 1080p60 and supports different resolutions and frame rates on the inputs. This allows cameras, computers, playback devices, or gaming consoles to be flexibly integrated into a production.

Via the USB video output, the program signal can be sent directly to a computer and used in applications such as OBS, vMix, XSplit, Skype, Zoom, or other streaming and conferencing solutions.

Operation and Live Functions

The integrated controls for video and audio mixing enable direct control during live production. The T-Bar allows transitions such as dissolves, wipes, and fade-to-black to be executed with precision.

The picture-in-picture function enables the simultaneous display of multiple sources and is particularly suited for interviews, presentations, commentaries, or hybrid events.

Robust Housing and Tally Function

The metal housing supports reliable use in the studio and on the go. The tally output can be used to signal active cameras in multi-camera operations.

Questions & Answers

How many video inputs does the AVMATRIX VS0601U offer, and what types are supported?

The switcher provides six video inputs in total: four SD/HD/3G-SDI ports and two HDMI Type-A ports. This combination allows simultaneous connection of professional broadcast cameras via SDI and consumer or prosumer devices such as laptops or gaming consoles via HDMI.

What is the maximum video resolution and frame rate the switcher can process?

It processes Full-HD signals up to 1920x1080 at 60 frames per second. Both SDI and HDMI inputs accept various resolutions and frame rates, so sources with different output settings can be mixed within the same production without requiring identical configurations on every device.

Can sources with different resolutions or frame rates be connected at the same time?

Yes. The VS0601U accepts different resolutions and frame rates across its inputs simultaneously, making it straightforward to integrate cameras, computers, and playback devices that do not share identical output settings into a single live production.

How is the program output sent to a streaming or conferencing application on a computer?

The switcher features a USB video output that transmits the program signal directly to a connected computer at up to 1080p60. The output is recognized as a standard USB capture device, so it works natively with software such as OBS, vMix, XSplit, Zoom, and Skype without requiring additional capture hardware.

What transition types are available during live switching?

Transitions including dissolves, wipes, and fade-to-black can be executed using the physical T-Bar on the unit. The T-Bar allows precise manual control over the speed and timing of each transition, which is particularly useful during live broadcasts where smooth cuts are important.

Does the switcher support picture-in-picture, and what scenarios is it suited for?

Yes, a picture-in-picture function is integrated, enabling two video sources to be displayed on screen simultaneously. This is particularly useful for interviews, presentations, commentary setups, and hybrid live events where a secondary source such as a slide deck or remote participant needs to appear alongside the main camera feed.

What audio inputs are available on the unit?

Two analog audio inputs are provided: a 3.5mm stereo jack and a pair of RCA connectors for left and right channels. These allow external audio sources such as microphones with a mixer or audio playback equipment to be integrated directly into the production alongside the embedded audio from the video inputs.

What is the tally output used for, and what connector does it use?

The tally output uses a DB-15 connector and is designed for multi-camera productions. It sends signals to compatible tally light systems on cameras or indicators, showing operators and talent which camera is currently live on the program output. This helps maintain production awareness during live events or broadcasts.

Is there a network connection on the device and what is it used for?

The unit includes one RJ45 LAN port. This can be used for network-based control or integration into production environments that manage switchers remotely, depending on the supported control protocols of the device.

Is the housing suitable for use outside of a fixed studio environment?

The VS0601U features a metal housing that provides durability for both studio installations and mobile or location-based productions. Its compact form factor makes it practical for setups such as event venues, conference rooms, training facilities, and on-site broadcast positions.

What SDI input formats are supported?

The SDI inputs accept 1080p at frame rates of 60, 59.94, 50, 30, 29.97, 25, 24, and 23.98 frames per second, as well as 1080psF at 30, 29.97, 25, 24, and 23.98 frames per second. Standard-definition and HD-SDI signals are also supported, covering a wide range of professional camera and broadcast equipment.

What is included in the scope of delivery?

The package includes the VS0601U 6-channel streaming switcher and a power supply. Cables for SDI, HDMI, or USB connections are not listed as included and would need to be sourced separately based on the specific devices being connected.

For which types of productions or use cases is the switcher primarily designed?

The VS0601U is suited for live productions, corporate events, training sessions, conferences, gaming streams, and mobile broadcast setups. It is designed for users who need a compact but capable video mixing solution that supports professional SDI sources alongside HDMI devices and outputs directly to streaming software via USB.
