VariZoom VZSNAPCRANE12 Camera Crane System with Tripod and Dolly

The VariZoom VZSNAPCRANE12 SnapCrane is a professional camera crane system with a total length of over 4 m. The set is supplied including the VariZoom VZTCR100 crane tripod, VariZoom VZDCR100 Dolly and carrying bag, making it a complete, ready-to-use jib system for film, video, studio and event productions.

The SnapCrane combines a modular lightweight design with high stability, precise craftsmanship and fast tool-free assembly. The secure dovetail connection allows the crane segments to be mounted quickly and configured for different working lengths.

Modular Camera Crane for Flexible Production Environments

The VariZoom SnapCrane was developed for professional users who need a stable, portable and versatile camera crane. The modular design allows for different crane lengths and facilitates transport and setup on set.

The crane sections consist of rigid, lightweight tubes that are precision-manufactured, powder-coated and tested before delivery. The upper extension section features a lateral truss pattern that maintains stability, reduces weight and decreases wind resistance in a light breeze.

Important note: For safety reasons, camera cranes must not be used in windy conditions.

Secure Dovetail Connections and Fast Assembly

The machined dovetail connections enable fast yet very secure joining of the individual crane segments. A sturdy stainless steel lock fixes the joint from above, while an additional knurled screw from below ensures a firm fit.

The tool-free assembly saves time during setup and simultaneously reduces the risk of improperly connected components. This makes the SnapCrane particularly suitable for productions that require rapid transitions between transport, setup and shooting.

Pan/Tilt Base with Variable Brake System

The heavy-duty pan and tilt base of the VariZoom SnapCrane is designed for smooth, controlled camera movements. Sealed bearings, oversized fasteners and a solid construction provide a stable pivot point and precise operation.

The integrated brake system works with a robust brake plate on the crane pan section and a variable brake mechanism in the pan/tilt base. This allows resistance to be adjusted in a controlled manner without abruptly locking the crane.

High-Quality Pins, Cables and Stainless Steel Components

High-quality quick-release pins made of stainless steel are used at the pivot points. The T-handle pins are secured against loss and allow for fast, reliable assembly on set.

The modular cable and tensioning system increases the rigidity of the camera crane without unnecessarily adding to the overall weight. Smoothly coated, corrosion-resistant cables and marine-grade stainless steel components are designed for a long service life and reliable use under production conditions.

VariZoom TCR100 Crane Tripod and DCR100 Dolly Included

The scope of delivery includes the VariZoom TCR100 crane tripod, which was developed specifically for use with camera cranes. VariZoom expressly recommends a stable single-section tripod rather than telescoping or folding tripods for crane systems, as the highest stability and safety are required during crane movements.

The TCR100 uses a solid machined base plate, robust tubes, large levelling feet, anodised aluminium, stainless steel fasteners and solid brass bushings. In combination with the DCR100 Dolly, this creates a stable base for controlled camera tracking shots.

The DCR100 Dolly features a wide footprint, robust solid rubber wheels, foot brakes and a secure leg locking system for the TCR100 crane tripod. A padded carrying bag for the dolly is also included.

Carrying Bag for the SnapCrane

The VariZoom SnapCrane is supplied as standard with a lightweight, padded soft case carrying bag. The bag features reinforced carry handles, a shoulder strap, thick padding and rubber feet for transport in everyday production use.

A hard case is optionally available for particularly protected transport.

Questions & Answers

What is the total reach of the VariZoom VZSNAPCRANE12?

The crane system has a total length of over 4 meters, giving camera operators a wide sweep range for dynamic shots in film, video, studio and event productions.

What is included in the set?

The VZSNAPCRANE12 ships as a complete system including the VariZoom VZTCR100 crane tripod, the VariZoom VZDCR100 dolly and a carrying bag, so no additional purchases are required to get started.

Does the crane require any tools for assembly?

No tools are needed. The dovetail connection system allows all crane segments to be joined and secured entirely by hand, which speeds up setup on set and reduces the risk of assembly errors.

How are the individual crane segments connected?

Each segment is joined via machined dovetail connections. A stainless steel lock secures the joint from above, while an additional knurled screw tightens from below to ensure a firm and reliable fit.

Can the crane be configured to different working lengths?

Yes. The modular design allows the individual sections to be combined in different configurations, so operators can adapt the working length to the specific requirements of each production or location.

What materials are the crane sections made from?

The crane sections consist of rigid, lightweight tubes that are precision-manufactured and powder-coated. Each unit is tested before delivery to ensure consistent quality and durability.

What is the purpose of the truss pattern on the upper extension section?

The lateral truss pattern on the upper extension section maintains structural stability while simultaneously reducing the overall weight of that segment and lowering wind resistance during light breezes.

Is this crane suitable for use in windy conditions?

No. For safety reasons, camera cranes must not be used in windy conditions. The system is designed for controlled environments where wind exposure is not a factor.

Does the crane system include a pan and tilt base?

Yes. The system features a heavy-duty pan and tilt base with a variable brake system, allowing precise control over camera movement and positioning during a shot.

Is the crane easy to transport between locations?

The modular lightweight construction and included carrying bag make the system straightforward to break down, pack and transport, which is particularly practical for productions that move between multiple locations.

For which production environments is this crane system designed?

The VZSNAPCRANE12 is intended for professional film, video, studio and event productions that require a stable, portable and versatile jib solution with fast transitions between transport, setup and shooting.
