What type of connector does the VZROCKDVX use to connect to the camera?
The remote control uses a 2.5 mm zoom connection, which is the standard zoom port found on a range of professional Panasonic video cameras.
How long is the included connection cable?
The included cable is approximately 101.6 cm (about one meter) in length. If a longer reach is needed, the cable can be extended using optional VariZoom VZ-EXT-L extension cables.
Can the cable length be extended beyond the included cable?
Yes. Optional VariZoom VZ-EXT-L extension cables are available separately and can be used to increase the operating distance between the remote control and the camera.
What kind of zoom rocker does the VZROCKDVX use?
The device features a pressure-sensitive side zoom rocker of the type commonly used in the broadcast industry. Its generous control travel allows for very fine, smooth, and jerk-free zoom movements ranging from slow, precise adjustments to rapid zooms.
Does the remote control also support starting and stopping the recording?
Yes. In addition to zoom control, the VZROCKDVX includes a record start/stop function, allowing the operator to trigger recording directly from the remote without touching the camera body.
What mounting setups is the VZROCKDVX suitable for?
Thanks to its compact design, the remote control can be mounted on tripods, shoulder rigs, and camera crane systems. The maximum clamp diameter is 3.2 cm, making it compatible with a wide range of standard mounting rods and handles.
What is the maximum clamp diameter supported by the mount?
The clamp supports a maximum diameter of 3.2 cm, which covers the most common rod and handle sizes used in professional camera rigs.
What are the dimensions and weight of the unit?
The VZROCKDVX measures 20.3 × 15.2 × 10.2 cm with a width of 5.1 cm and a length of 7 cm. It weighs 450 g, keeping the overall load on a rig or tripod arm minimal.
Is the VZROCKDVX suitable for mobile as well as stationary camera setups?
Yes. The remote is designed for both stationary use, such as studio or fixed camera positions, and mobile applications including shoulder-mounted or crane-based shooting situations.
In which professional fields is the VZROCKDVX typically used?
The remote is well suited for broadcast productions, live event coverage, and studio work — any professional video application where precise and repeatable zoom control from a rear operating position is required.
Does the zoom rocker allow variable zoom speeds?
Yes. The pressure-sensitive rocker responds to the amount of force applied, enabling variable zoom speeds. Light pressure produces slow, controlled movements, while firmer pressure results in faster zoom transitions.
